The SecNet network together with its partners held the International Scientific and Educational Forum Aktru-2019, within the framework of which three international schools - "Aktru 2019" (TSU), "Flora Altai" (AltSU) and II Russian-Chinese Archaeological School (AltSU) were held. The organizers of the Forum included leading experts from Tomsk, Altai and Gorno-Altai State Universities, as well as their foreign partners. Lectures, field studies and excursions were held at summer schools.
A wide range of problems in archeology, biology, mineralogy, hydrology, geography, climatology, ecology and economics in the Altai Mountains were discussed. The Forum started with the joint scientific session of all schools, which was held on the Altai State University Centre of practical trainings "Chemal".
II Russian-Chinese Archaeological School (AltSU) was organized with the participation of teachers and students of Nanjing University (China). The scientific directors the international archeological school were Alexey Tishkin, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Archaeology, Ethnography and Museology of Altai State University (Russia) and Zhang Lianzhen, PhD, Professor of Nanjing University (China).
Archaeological excavations, field research and various educational activities were carried out during the school. The 6th TSU International Summer School "Natural Conditions and Habitats of Arctic and Alpine Regions" was held at the high-mountain research station "Aktru". The purpose of the school is to study the unique natural territory of the Altai Mountains, lifestyle and ways of adaptation of the population in a rapidly changing climate. Russian and foreign students and young scientists participated in it.
Among the speakers of the TSU school there was a Doctor of Science, Honored Professor-Researcher, member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences, Professor of Sheffield University (Great Britain), Professor of TSU, coordinator of the international network of Arctic terrestrial research stations INTERACT - Terry Callaghan. Young scientists also had an opportunity to talk to Pyotr Glovatsky, Doctor of Science, Associate Professor of the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences; Olga Solomina, Doctor of Geography, Director of the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences; and Sergey Kirpotin, Doctor of Biology, Professor, Director of the BioKlimLand Center of Excellence of TSU.
I International School "Flora Altai" School of Altai State University, aimed at the study and description of biodiversity of the Altai Territory, began its work on Centre of practical trainings "Chemal", and from July 12 joined the school of Tomsk State University and continued at the alpine research station "Aktru". Leading Russian and foreign botany specialists took part in the school's work: Marina Vladimirovna Olonova, Professor of Biological Institute at TSU, Mary Barkworth - PhD, Associate Professor at the Department of Biology of the Biological Faculty of the University of Utah (USA) and others.
